Here you will find the full painting of Ernie the Australian Shepherd and a detailed version of the portrait. I received so many wonderful emails from Paul and Nancy, it was lovely to get to know Ernie via their emails. A snippet of one of the emails they sent is at the top of this page in quotes.

Above is a close up detail and the work in progress stages are below. This portrait was painted on 20 x 16 professionally stretched canvas using fine quality oil paints. Oils usually take a couple of weeks to dry depending on the thickness of the paint and the colours used. The sizes of canvas I use are standard sizes that can be framed either by a professional framer or for ready made frames.

This is a photo of the portrait framed. Paul and Nancy very kindly took the photograph for me so that I could add it to my website.

I love this frame, I really love the detail with the stars and the old fashioned feel. The gold trim finishes it off beautifully and it brings out the cream and ochre colours of the portrait.

My oil portraits are all painted to standard sizes and so can be either placed in ready made frames or taken to a local framer. We also have a professional framer who can frame your portrait for you if you would like the complete package.
